There is a lot of real estate activity in the news right now. For example, this past week there was a ground breaking ceremony in South Kihei for the new luxury complex known as Nu’u ‘Aina. This development will offer 68 luxury residences that will include one and two-story single family homes and two-story villas. The residential market is not the only one that has seen growth and rebound. A recent article in the Pacific Business News Journal stated that Hawaii’s commercial real estate market has rebound as well. The article highlights the rebound seen on Maui where there is a tight commercial market and many properties are being leased out.
An example used in the article is the growth of Kula Produce and it’s expansion into a new facility at the Maui Lani Village Center. This new location will double the size of the current facility.
South Maui is expected to see a newly developed beachfront property in the next few years. A Japan-based company has announced plans to spend $300 million to redevelop the former Maui Lu Resort into a Hilton Grand Vacations time-share resort. The project is expected to be completed in 2017. This development will host a villa-style Hawaiian resort with 388 one, two and three-bedroom units.
