I have two important announcements to make this week. The first is a new office location and the second regards a change to Maui Electrical Company solar requirements on Maui. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding solar as there are deadlines for applications.
NEW OFFICE – Maui International Real Estate Services has been my home for some time now. It is a great office and I’m proud to hold my license there. I’m really excited to share that we have a new office located in Kihei. The new Maui International Real Estate Services office is beautiful and situated right in the heart of Kihei. MAUI ELECTRIC COMPANY CHANGES – Maui Electric Company (MECO) has announced a change for solar energy. They plan to eliminate Net Energy Metering (NEM) and adopt something called Schedule Q. These links will provide more information. There is a deadline to get an application into MECO and there are provisions to be grandfathered in if you make the deadline.
Haleakala Solar Company has a lot of clear information on their website for what this change means for consumers. In basic words it means that if you want to maximize your return for solar you will want to get it installed before the changeover occurs and get the grandfathered status. See the links below to their company for more information. I’ve also posted pictures of their current brochure with similar information.
Change is on the Horizon - Simply put, when the utility makes the switch, investing in solar will become financially less advantageous for home and business owners.
